Swim Stars Philosophy

Developed over a decade of swim instruction to children with different strengths, The Swim Stars Method’s primary element and objective centers on FUN. In the comfortable setting of the student’s backyard pool (or the pool of a friend or family member), confidence and swimming skills are fostered through personalized swim instruction and creative games designed to build upon each child’s natural abilities.

Swim Stars works to create an environment of patience and gentle caring that engenders a true feeling of trust between instructor and student. When a student feels comfortable and trusts the instructor, greater strides are made in improving swimming aptitude. In addition, unlike many swim schools, we believe that the student should have one consistent instructor – this constancy builds a relationship that will not only foster development in swimming, but also in the broader areas of life.

By using a pool familiar to the student, an atmosphere of familiarity and safety optimizes the learning process. The crucial elements of comfort, trust and familiarity, combined with teaching techniques that are fun and enjoyable make a young swimmer look forward to the arrival of the instructor.

Swim Star instructors eliminate specific pressures on the student to perform at any other level then her/his own. The organic improvement of skill and increased confidence in the water create a sense of confidence, excitement and joy. For example, if a young swimmer is afraid to put his face in the water but loves to be in the pool, simple games are used that play upon that student’s area of confidence. Sometimes, the instructor and student improvise a game on the spot that is “special” and exclusive to their lessons!

Backed by years of competitive swimming, coaching and teaching, our instructors have the know-how and understanding to create the best lessons possible for your child. The Swim Stars process is not just about “learning,” it’s about having a good time. The goal is ultimately met – becoming a strong, water-safe swimmer – but the journey there is the best part!
